Vladimir Milivojevich, known professionally as Boogie, came of age amidst the civil unrest and rebellion in his hometown of Belgrade as Serbia struggled for independence throughout the nineties. As the peace and comfort of his once-typical life slipped away, Boogie turned to photography to preserve his sanity, separating himself from the violence and chaos erupting in the streets from behind a camera lens. In 1998, he won a green card lottery for residency in the United States, escaping the Yugoslav Wars and moving to Brooklyn.

Today, Boogie is regarded as one of the most influential figures in street photography, revered for his prolific work ethic and signature style of capturing moments often overlooked in between the craziness of city streets.

In collaboration with Living Proof, Boogie has revisited his first decade of photography in New York to present NEW York IS Mine / I Came AT THE Perfect Time, 166 pages of never-before-seen photos shot during a historic time for both the city and the legendary photographer’s career.
